Coaching visits tracker

By noon on Dec. 29, five teams were searching for new head coaches. A sixth team was added to the list on Wednesday. We've quickly transitioned from the firing phase of the offseason into the hiring phase. We'll keep you updated with all the interviews and coaching news below:

Vacancies


Buffalo Bills: Doug Marrone opted out of his contract with theBills on Wednesday and relinquished his responsibilities as head coach. Marrone had a three-day window to opt out due to new ownership.
Former Broncos and Redskins coach Mike Shanahan interviewed with the Bills, Rapoport reported Monday, per a source informed of his schedule.
Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell interviewed with the Bills on Saturday, according to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport, per a source close to the team's search.  
The Bills also interviewed Broncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase and Seattle defensive coordinator Dan Quinn on Saturday, Rapoport reported.
Buffalo is scheduled to interview Chargers offensive coordinator Frank Reich on Sunday, Rapoport reported, per a source informed of Reich's schedule.
Former Lions coach and current defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz is expected to interview and is the top in-house candidate, per Rapoport.
The Bills have also requested an interview with Lions defensive coordinator Teryl Austin, Colts offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton and Bengals play-caller Hue Jackson, per Rapoport. Hamilton won't talk to Buffalo this week, Rapoport reported Monday, per a source informed of the OC's situation, but the team is willing to wait to chat with him.
Buffalo will talk to Jackson when the team returns from the West Coast, per Rapoport. The Bills have also requested to speak withEagles offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur, Rapoport reported, per a source informed of the Bills' thinking.
San Francisco 49ersThe Niners interviewed Mike Shanahan in Denver this weekend, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Saturday morning on NFL GameDay Morning. The Niners interviewedBroncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase in Denver on Friday, Rapoport added.
Vic Fangio, four-year defensive coordinator for the Niners, is considered a candidate for the head coach position. San Francisco has not granted the Redskins permission to interview Fangio for the defensive coordinator opening, according to Rapoport, per a source. Rapoport also reported the new coach might want to keep Fangio, who has a year left on his deal.
Lions defensive coordinator Austin said the Niners have requested to interview him. NFL Media's Aditi Kinkhabwala reported Monday that Austin is expected to interview with San Francisco on Thursday, per a source apprised of his plans.
San Francisco also has requested to interview Cardinals DC Todd Bowles, who will interview with the Niners on Friday, per Rapoport, via a source with knowledge of Bowles' schedule.
NFL Media's Kimberly Jones reported Thursday morning that Rex Ryan had an interview scheduled with the 49ers on Sunday.
Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn interviewed with San Francisco on Tuesday night, per NFL Media's Albert Breer.
Rapoport reported that other potential candidates for the coaching job includeRavens offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak49ers defensive line coach Jim TomsulaPatriots offensive coordinatorJosh McDanielsBrowns offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan and UCLA head coach Jim Mora. McDaniels interviewed with the Niners on Saturday.
Chicago Bears: The Bearsannounced they've retained formerGiants GM Ernie Accorsi as a consultant to help find a general manager and coach. NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per a team source, that the Bears want to first hire a GM before deciding on a coach.
Chicago will interview Titans executive Lake Dawson on Tuesday and Chiefs executive Chris Ballard on Wednesday, Rapoport reported Monday, per a source informed of the Bears' plans.
They've also requested to interview two others candidates for their opening, per Breer: the Giants' Mark Ross and Vince Newsome of the Ravens.
The Bears will interview Broncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase on Saturday, per Rapoport, and talked with Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn on Friday, per Rapoport. They've also requested to interview Arizona defensive coordinator Todd Bowles, who will interview with the Bearson Saturday. 
Atlanta Falcons: The Falcons are wasting no time in their coaching search. NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Saturday on NFL GameDay Morning that Rex Ryan will interview with Atlanta on Tuesday.
Former Bills coach Doug Marrone will talk to Atlanta on Monday, Rapoport reported Saturday, per a source informed of Marrone's plans.
